How to set network adapter priority (tried the simple things)?
Hello, I'm running Vista Pro. on a machine with a standard ethernet connection as well as a USB WiFi connection. At the moment, Vista gives priority to the WiFi connection. Anytime WiFi is in range, this becomes the connection over which all network traffic is routed. I'd like to reverse this order - and make the wired ethernet connection the priority. In other words, when both are connected all traffic should be routed over the wired ethernet connection. I've tried a few steps, and nothing seems to make a difference. Here's what I've tried: 1. Go to Network Connections -> advanced -> adapters and bindings -> change connection order to put the Local Area Connection ahead of the wireless connection. 2. Change the interface metric of the wired "Local Area Connection" to 10; change the interface metric of the "Wireless Connection" to 100. Regardless of the above settings, priority is still given to the WiFi connection. Also - if it helps, I have the ethernet connection set to a static IP (default gateway is the router address); the WiFi connection is set to use DHCP for all. Any help would be great. Thanks! - Brian
