How to reset icons after Windows 7 Recovery removal
Hi, I had the virus and removed it with Malwarebytes but still experience the problem where there are no links in the start menu folders. It says Empty. I tried what you suggested here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/1e9398bc-3dd6-4ded-b3b7-e5d4f6e0309c but to no avail. Also, I cannot find accessories like the calculator that Win 7 came with. How can I get all those back? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi, Please follow these steps to ensure that the settings are correct for the Start Menu. 1. Right click on the Start Button 2. Click Properties 3. In the Task Bar and Start Menu Properties window click “customize” 4. Click on the “Use Default Settings” button 5. Click “Ok” 6. Click “Apply” 7. Open a program or two and ensure that the icons for these programs are showing in the recently opened items. If the issue persists, you can try the suggestion on this link: http://coolthingoftheday.blogspot.com/2009/05/story-of-windows-7-and-empty-all.html Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Hello, Thansk for suggesting this. Unfortunately, this does not work. I opened a program after following steps 1 thru 6 but it does not show in th start menu. Also, the other problem is that in the more detailed menu of the start menu, I have all the folder listed but then as you click on them, there is no program link attached. Instead, it just says Empty. I did see a solution to this on the internet where you had to go into the registry to fix this but I cannot find the site. Would you know a solution like that?
