How to repair a corrupt install of .net 2.0 64 Bit?
I have a desktop that has applications failing to open because the .net 2.0 framework is corrupt. I have found instructions on how to fix the 32 bit version. But not the 64 bit version of the framework. Can anyone from Microsoft provide a KB article or instructions on how to fully uninstall the .net framework and re-install it on a 64 bit machine? Or run a repair on the 64 bit based framework? Thanks in advance!

I performed the repair install. (Backed up the computer ran the upgrade as the instructions recommended etc.) Did not fix. Framework still corrupt. MS really doesn't have a fix for this do they? I'm amazed. It is that deeply rooted into the system that a repair install won't fix! I ran this test: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\csc /? It should return information if the framework were working properly..... It doesn't it just shows a blank line and skips to the command prompt again. The repair install does not work. Thanks for the ideas guys but apparently there is no fix. Back to square one of re-doing the entire system. The .net framework is toast there is no repair for it and I hope anyone in the future looking for how to repair the .net framework (Netfx64.exe is the install source) knows now that it can be corrupted beyond a repair install so that they do not spend hours going through that process like I just did.

Hi, If you run the command mentioned above, CMD will output the options help of CSC.exe command. Based on my understanding, Upgrade installation should fix such issue. Maybe a 3rd party application cause it, please try to boot computer in Clean Boot or Safe Mode and test again.Juke Chou TechNet Community Support
