How to remove record of SSID from network list?
On build 7100, I have the following issue which I can't find any tools to solve. I have a Brother wireless printer which needs to have an ad-hoc network for initial connection setup. It must have the SSID "SETUP". Not being too familiar with adding connections, I manually created a connection called SETUP and then found that I had created an access point type connection and there is no way to convert it. So I deleted this connection from my list of wireless connections and tried to make a new ad hoc connection, only to be told that there already was a network of that name and I should pick a different name. It also still shows up in my list of available connections. How do I get rid of all traces of the unwanted network so that I can create my ad hoc network with that same name? Thanks C

Hi,Did you created the wireless connection by using third-party software or using Microsoft Wizard? Please try the following steps:a. Click "Start"->"Run", type "ncpa.cpl", press Enter.b. Right-click the wireless network adapter, click "Properties".c. On "Wireless networks" tab, in "Preferred networks" section, high-light the wireless connection you want to remove, click "Remove", click "OK".If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.Thank you.

I have one thing that's unclear...what if there is no "Wireless Networks" tab, no "Preferred Networks" section. What then?

It is disappointing to see that this thread ended up in a dead end. I have the exact same issue. Had an Ad Hoc Wireless Networked called 'Demo Wireless'. Deleted it because I was having problems with another wireless device and I wanted to make sure the airways were clear. When I went back to trying to create the Ad Hoc wireless network after my debugging, I got the same message: "Cannot create a Demo Wireless network." I've tried to follow the suggestions here and ended up in the same place: ther is no 'Wireless Networks' tab in the properties of the adapter. Any ideas would be appreciated. I'll continue to comb through the Google searches.Sincerely, Donald Roy Airey
