How to remove a router showing from Windows 7, Network Infrastructure
I would like to know how to remove a router/device that is not mine showing under Control Panel > Network and Internet > View Network computers and devices? I have a Cisco N-router(model M10) and a Netgear USB wireless-N adapter(WNA3100) connected to my desktop. When I view the devices following the above path, the router Linksys WRT110 shows up along with my Router SSID under View Network computers and devices > Network Infrastructure. I don't own a Linksys WRT110 and its showing in that window. Also, when I click on See full map, under Network and Sharing Center, It shows my PC(has a MAC address of Netgear USB Wireless adapter) then its shows an Icon named as my SSID - looks like a wireless adapter, then Icon named Switch that looks a router and then my M10 router showing my SSID and finally to Internet(blue Globe). The map is like this: PC====== Device(SSID)==== SWITCH=====M10(SSID)====Internet. The PC in the above diagram show the MAC address of my USB adapter, M10 shows the MAC address as well meaning that I recognize these devices. The Device that has an icon that looks like a wireless adapter shows the name of my network(or SSID) and the Icon that looks like a router, shows the Name: Switch when I hover my mouse over it. I am concerned that my connection is going through someone else's router? I sent the WPA2 key and made my router all secure then why these devices are showing in the Network Map and under Network Infrastructure? I once took one of my PCs that is now connected by wired connection to M10 to a friend's house, is it possible that his router stored my PC Mac address and now his router can connect remotely although my network is secured by WPA2 and password and that he is able to view my internet traffic?? Please someone help, thank you so much in advance.

Hi, According to your description, I assume that the situation may be caused by the computer stores the information of this router and have not cleared it. You may try to disable the Network Discovery in the Network and sharing center and re-enable it for a test. Also, you may consider changing the network password. Thanks. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. The Linksys may be a neighbor's Wireless Access Point with no security. Remove it from the wireless connections properties and set the wireless adapter to not connect automatically. Then you will receive a notification of available wireless networks and choose which to connect with.
