How to open a notepad document in excel
Drag and drop! Open and instance of excel, drag the document to the newly opened book1, drop, and it will open. The path to excel should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\excel.exe DAS

That could be a tough one. How about opening the notepad document, selecting the stuff you need with the mouse, and then pasting it into WordPad to see if anything unusual shows up. If you get unusual characters or formatting that disagrees with what you are expecting, perhaps there are invisible embedded characters that are "ruining" the data. If you have Word, try that too. If nothing shows up out of the ordinary, I'd re-open it in Notepad, select the contents you want (don't use select all, use the mouse) copy it, and paste it to a separate (new) instance of Notepad. then try to open that in Excel. Best I can do for now until you provide feedback based on this post's instructions. DAS
