How to mute a USB microphone in Windows 81

Hello,

I bought a Logitech USB microphone to use with DJ / mixing programs, but I cannot mute it on my desktop computer running with Windows 81.  The computer recognises it and says the driver is up to date.  The sound quality is fine, but the microphone is constantly on and can be heard in the speakers or headphones while I have it turned off in the programs.  I have tried front and back USB ports and three different programs and it is always the same.    I have an older laptop using Windows 7 and the microphone works perfectly with full control.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
