How to move from beta to full release?
Hello - I just downloaded the beta and I am curious once Windows 7 is fully released - will the beta testers have to reinstall?Or can we simply purchase the key for the full Windows 7 release and update our systems?

You will normally have to re-install.I doubt the beta we have will be the final release and there could be other beta versions and release candidates before the final release. It is normal for each of these to be a re-install too as the installation/deployment of a new OS needs to be tested and refined too.

With a Public Beta you will more than likely have to uninstall and then install the RTM. Even though the public beta is version 7000 numerous other builds will be supplied to the official Microsoft beta testers (not to the public beta testers) therefore, even if another public beta appears (which i'm not sure whether there will be another public beta or not) the final version before RTM will be different to the final public beta.John Barnett - Windows XP Associate Expert; Windows Desktop Experience. - Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org

I really think this is the Windows I have been waiting for. My confidence is high. It works great.
