How to move a domain user account to a workgroup?
The past few months I worked in a domain environment. So my main user account is a domain user account. Now I have moved to another environment where a workgroup is being used. After switching my computer to use the workgroup I was obviously unable to log into my old (domain) user account. How do I move all my files and settings to a useable user account?Or alternatively, can I "convert" the old user account to make it useable again?Copying the user folder (from C:\Users) to a another profile did not yield satistfactory results. The resulting profile is incomplete and partially broken (due to ownership access rights issues on the files).I also looked into the User State Migration Toolkit but it seemed like my case is not covered by what it provides.

Hello,Have you tried using Windows Easy Transfer tool to move all your domain user profile:1. Take the PC out of the domain and switch it to workgroup.2. Then create a new local user profile for the user and use the Windows Easy Transfer in windows 7 to copy the profile settings from the domain profile on the PC to the newly create local profile on the PC.Thomas77
