How to make Windows XP STOP sharing drives by default?
I have Windows XP SP2 Professional. I connect to the internet using a LAN. I have NOT configured anything. My problem is: every time I run my computer, Windows starts sharing all my drives and the C:Windows folder.I'm afraid the the network admin could look up what I have on my computer.I tried the "Stop Sharing" menu option in Computer Management, but when I run my computer the next time, all the drives (and the Windows folder) are being shared again. I have to repeat the action every time I run my computer. How can I turn it off?-------------------------PS. Sorry for my English.1 person got this answerI do too

HiWin XP does not have Sharing by default, make sure that there is No batch file running at startup that enables Sharing through the Net Share command. As for the current shares.Start Windows Explorer. Right click on the Drive/Folders choose Sharing, click on the Sharing tab, and uncheck the sharing boxes. Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

Thanks for help, but I found the solution by myself. The problem was caused by the Server Service. I don't know who turned it on, but after I turned off it and prevented from automatically starting, all my shares disappeared. Thanks again.

HiThis is a solution similar to leveling a whole house because you lost the Key.Sometime in the near future you will do something that needs (or a dependent) on the Server, services and you would not know why this something does not work. Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

I mean that do people really need this much of stuff?I'm sticking with Visual Studio 2005 for years, I made various kinds of apps, and just a few weeks ago I noticed that You can make PLUGINS for Visual Studio. Who need this? And I usually don't mention this, but the thing that makes me crazy about Windows, is that settings are everywhere. I mean, You have tons of dialog boxes, located all around, their not organized. Why can't ALL preferences, settings, options, properties, or whatever You call them, be placed in ONE place?

HiTherefore, I guess I should go to a Car forums, and "make fun" of installing Air Conditions in cars, since I never use mine. :DNot to talk about our Automatic Gears that are “useless” since many millions of East Europeans, and people in Far East Countries Drive with manual shift.
