How to logout from shared folder
I connect to a shared folder, entering the userid/password when requested. All good. I would like to change userid to a different userid and reconnect to the same folder. How do I disconnect from the shared folder so that next time I connect I get the prompt to enter userid/password? I have looked at the credential manager -- nothing is saved there. I am not using a mapped drive thus "disconnect" does not show up on the context menu. I found the very well hidden stored password manager (rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr) and nothing is stored there. All I want to do is login as a different user. My userid/password seem to be "cached" somewhere. I also tried the following experiment. I changed my password on the server. I was prompted to enter userid/password. Good. I changed my password back to the previous password. I could access the share without entering userid/password. Thanks all!

The net use \\computername /delete did not work. says "The network connection cannot be found." I am still connected to the share. NET USE with no parameters does not list any connections yet I am still connected to the share.

Hi, Please also try the following steps. Please restart the machine after performing each step and check the result. 1. Type the following command in Command Console: Net use * /DELETE 2. Open Credential Manager and clear all saved user or password. Then, please access network shared folder. 3. Temporarily disable Workstation service and restart it again. Hope this helps. Novak

In Windows Explorer, my computer go to the tools menu, or right-click on My Computer. Choose Disconnect Network Drive. Next time you connect to a network drive, uncheck the "Reconnect at Logon" box"

The only way I could get the folder to stay disconnected was to restart the workstation service. Seems like this is something of a security hole. Let's say I have one of our admins come over to my machine and install a new piece of software from some "secured folder". When they are done they disconnect from the share and leave. Now all I have to do is go back to that share and I full control of the data in there.Am I missing something?
