How to log on with the fingerprint reader?
Hi all: I've upgrade my HP TC4400 tablet to Vista Ultimate. I was able to install the driver for the built-in fingerprint reader by using the Windows XP download on hp.com. The fingerprint reader is recognized in Device Manager as such (Personal identification devices category). Also, the TPM 1.2 is properly configured (if that's related at all). Now, I am just trying to figure out how to use my fingerprint to log on to the machine... I can't seem to find anything in Control Panel, etc. TIA, SA.

You need as most of us need software application that is vista aware ( as most fingerprint software is written using the GINA) which is nolonger part of vista. You will need to contact HP to get updated Fingerprint application software.

Wouldn't that work only with a Microsoft device? Also, I happen to have x64 installed...

You need to contact your Laptop company and ask when the Fingerprint APPLICATION will be supported under Vista. Most are saying late January. You might find a 3rd part app that work but most of them are also saying late Jan. As for theMS fingerprint software work on a 32 bitVISTA computer, I belive there is a check in the software look for the MS hardware
