How to force a font size for a legacy application?

I have a third party legacy LoB application for which the UI wasn't written properly, in that the form doesn't account for possible changes in font sizes, resulting in buttons being pushed out of view and thus being totally inaccessible.  I have no control over the application, the vendor who wrote it no longer exists, and it's absolutely vital to our mission.  Changing the app code is not a possibility.

For Windows 7, I dealt with this by forcing all users' themes to change the system font back to Tahoma (from Segoe UI) and the font size to a smaller size that worked correctly.  This capability has been removed in Windows 8 (Genius!)  How can I force the app to use a particular font or font size?  I'm open to all possible solutions, including virtualization, shims, etc.

TIA,

Nevermind.  After several months (on and off) of trying to find a way to change the fonts and reading blogs that say it can't be done in Windows 8, I stumbled on the new UI for changing the font sizes and figured out how to change the fonts.  If anyone is looking for the way to do this, reply and I'll update the thread with the info.

Hi,

As far as I know, system font could not be changed in Windows 8.

Please see if changing the size of text helps. Otherwise, I think you need to change the application side.

Make the text on your screen larger or smaller

Thanks.

Don't leave us hanging. What did you do? I have a couple of applications that I need to use on my new Surfact PRO 3 that won't scale properly. THe fonts are so small that I can barely read them.
