How to divide drive C: into two partitions without a third party program?
Hi Assem,Once you have created a primary partition it is not possible (In windows XP) to split the partition without using third party software. You can refer:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000 for creating a new partition.Hope this helps..

Thank you Saurabh for the answer. Is it possible to change the primary partition to the other types (logical or extended) in order to split it?Since I don't know the differences between primary, logical and extended partitions, can you please summarize the differences between them? Thanks.Assem

Hi Assem,When you partition your hard-drive you can have two partitions called Primary partition and Extended Partition.Primary partition is the one where normally you have your operating system installed. (In windows operating system we can have Operating system installed in any partition). (Eg C: Drive)Extended Partition: A hard disk may contain only one extended partition, This can be remaining space on your hard-drive after you create primary partition.Logical Partitions: Its created on Extended Partition and extended partition can be subdivided into multiple logical partitions. Each logical partition is then assigned an additional drive letter. (Eg you can have drive letter D, E, F...).So When you install operating system on a new hard-disk you get an option asking location for new operating system you can create a partition: Refer:http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/installxpnew1_7.htm for more information.Hope this helps.
