How to disable auto mic-level adjustment by Lync?

This issue has been raised in the past with no solution.

Is there any plans to add this checkbox to the options in Lync? Or perhaps a reg key to disable the feature?

The issue is that the auto adjust doesn't reset itself after a small loud noise causes it to turn the volume down.

While it would be nice to be able to completely disable it, I would definitely be able to work with the feature if it turned the volume back up after lowering it.

However, as of now, this is delaying our Lync rollout so I'm looking for any suggestions on how to stop Lync from adjusting the mic input level when a loud noise causes it to lower the volume.

Hi

I have also tried the suggestions but their does not seem to be any reg setting i can find. Other apps like skype and google talk etc. can be changed in the registry but the problem seems to re-surface. Hopefully in Lync 2013 this will be fixed, i will test it and revert.

Hi,

At present, looks like still no solution to disable auto mic-level adjustment in lync 2010 client, as well as lync 2013 preview.

What is going on with this issue?  Microsoft needs to fix this.  Lync will lower the microphone gain all the way down to 0 if there is a loud sound and IT WILL NEVER ADJUST IT BACK UP AGAIN.  All the other VoIP apps provide an option in the UI to disable automatic gain control but Communicator DOESN'T EVEN PROVIDE A REGISTRY ENTRY?  What the hell Microsoft? Get on it -  stop lagging behind and ignoring common sense functionality.

Microsoft, please react on this issue! Since years I scream on my customers because in case I'm silent for one minute my mic gets up to max so that the other side can listen to the talk on the other end of my office. In case I start to speak again I scream on my customer until lync decides to lower the volume. I want to be in control of the mic volume! Please to not try to be smart. Thanks, Ralph

Makes Lync 2013 unusable because it screws with the audio settings (constantly) for every other app including Skype, WebEx, etc.

How hard can it be to add a checkbox control, registry setting, and an if-else condition to prevent this from happening?

Hi,

We have the same issue... Lync 2013 takes control of the mic and ignores the mic Vol settings i did. With it's autogain, which is not configurable and not able to disable, it "corrects" the mic vol lvl dynamically within a call (turns it up). after the call has ended, the mic turn back to low lvl (like my default settings). We tested many brand new headsets (lync compatible), but all have the same issue, when a call has been started. so lync kills every headset technology with noise reduction and whatever. So we need urgently an autogain disable option. The mic sensibility setting, which i made to my mic in lync, has no function.

The main issue is, that ppl within the room will be catched by the mic autogain and that is really bad.... what about privacy, MS?
