How to disable Advanced File Sharing in Windows 7?
I want to disable File Sharing such that when a user clicks on a folder, the context menu does not have the option "Share" or "Share With > Advance Sharing". Or maybe disable that option. What I do is I go to Contol Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options > View Tab > Then I Uncheck the Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended) After that I go to Control Panel > Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center > Change Advanced sharing settings > Then I do the following settings Home or Work - Turn on Network discovery - Turn off file and printer sharing - Turn off Public folder sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access these folders) Public - Turn off Network discovery - Turn off file and printer sharing - Turn off Public folder sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access these folders) Domain - Turn on Network discovery - Turn off file and printer sharing - Turn off Public folder sharing (people logged on to this computer can still access these folders) After I do all that, I test if file sharing is really disabled by right clicking on a folder, point to share and click Advance Sharing. What happens is, despite the settings above, I am still able to share a folder. How can I disable Advanced file sharing? I don't want to be able to share a folder. How can I disable Advanced file sharing?

Hi EAOA, Thanks for the post! You can disable that Sharing Tab using Registry Editor. Note: Before you modify the key, please backup firstly. Logon the computer as Administrator, click Start, input regedit in the search bar, press Enter. Find the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{f81e9010-6ea4-11ce-a7ff-00aa003ca9f6} Right-click and delete it. If you cannot delete it, please take the ownership of this key, follow these steps: 1. Right-click the key - Permissions - Advanced 2. Owner Tab, Click your user name and check the box "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects", Apply - OK. 3. Click Administrators under Group or user name, check Allow Full Control. Then Apply - OK. Now delete that key. Then you may find the Sharing Tab is doesn't exist. If you want it back, just double-click that export registry key created when you backup.
