My Win7 system is now 2 weeks old. I'm getting automatically "nagged" to apply updates to 3rd party software. Specifically Adobe Reader and now Sun Java. I don't want any auto updates by Windows or 3rd party programs. Prefer to update when I decide it's needed and safe. I've disabled Windows updates, but can't figure out how to disable 3rd party updates. Anybody know how? The common method to kill the Adobe updater does not work in my Win7. The Java update is a new one for me. Never saw that before under XP. My Wind7 UAC is blocking the Java update. So apparently an update progam is automatically running, but I can't even find it, let alone tell how to disable.

Hi, Try creating a firewall rule to block the updaters of these applications from going out. Alternatively, you can use AppLocker to block these applications from running. Hi Redcrown, There should be an update related option in third party software. For example, in Adobe Reader, you can disable the update by going to Edit, Preferences, click Updater on the left pane, choose "Do not download or install updates automatically", and then click OK. You can contact the software manufacturer directly to confirm the settings. Regards, Linda
