How to delete a healthy primary partition with ubntu 12.04 in it ?

I had installed ubuntu 12.04 alongside windows 8.1 by shrinking the volume of the C drive into which windows is installed and thereby freeing up aroung 16 gb of space. Now as i wanted to get rid of ubuntu, i looked upon the internet and repaired the windows bootloader using command prompt after booting from a windows8.1 recovery usb stick ( by typing in bootrec /fixboot followed by enter key and then bootrec /fixmbr and enter key again. Now my system boots straight into windows but i am unable to delete the space which i cleared for ubuntu by shrinking C: a dialod box pops up and says that an unexpected error has occurred and to try closing the disk manager and restarting the pc and more data will be available in the event log. i have tried restarting my pc multiple times but the problem still persists. an di dont understand the data given in the system log. i can t even post a screen shot of that because my microsoft account is not verified yet.. also tried using command promt and diskpart but same message comes there too..

Simply you can't delete the healthy primary partition. Next time when you need to installed windows software. On starting new windows will be appear which shows you all disk and drive partition on your window. Here you can delete partition which is not longer useable for you. After that it will be easily shrink with other partition of windows.

Or if you want to delete before formatting windows need to follow these steps

1. Open a command prompt as administrator.

2. Run Diskpart application by typing Diskpart in the command prompt.

3. In the Diskpart prompt, enter rescan command and press Enter key to re-scan all partitions, volumes and drives available.

4. Then type in list disk and press Enter key to show all hard disk drive available.

5. Select the disk that contains the partition you want to remove. Normally, with just 1 hard disk, it will be disk 0. So the command will be:

Select disk 0

Finish by Enter key.

6. Type list partition and press Enter key to show all available and created partition in the disk selected.

7. Select the partition that wanted to be deleted by using the following command, followed by Enter key:

Select partition x

Where x is the number of the recovery partition to be removed and unlocked its space. Be careful with the number of this partition, as wrong number may get data wipes off.

8. Finally, type in delete partition override and press Enter key.

Hope this helps.

Since you are now booting into Windows without the error from a now non-existent 2nd boot and just want to retrieve the space something like the free version of EaseUs Partition Master might work. Disclaimer, I've not used it this way but have for changing partitions, resizing etc and it has worked with relative ease. Does have a GUI interface.

Hopefully Might help.
