How to connect a non stored credential EAP profile using netsh command in Windows 8.1?

Hi,

I am writing a script using Netsh Commands in windows 8.1. When I was trying to connect EAP profiles which are configured with non stored credentials using netsh command, its not prompting for a user credential window. But same netsh command is working fine with a stored credential EAP profiles.

Steps I followed:

  1. created a Microsoft PEAP-MSCHAPv2 profile without saving credentials using default network manager in Windows 8.1.
  2. open the command prompt in admin mode to enter the following netsh command.
  3. netsh wlan connect name="profile name"
  4. It will show as "Connection request was completed successfully" but, it is not prompting a credential window.

I am not understanding why its not prompting for a credential because, its prompting and connecting if you press a connect button in a default network manager of Windows 8.1.

Please give me your suggestions to resolve this issue and please let me know if you need some more info to solve.

Hi

Since we dont have Wi-Fi environment for test, I only can searched on line. Seems like if the command attempts to connect to a network to which the interface is already connected, this command returns a message that the connection was successful, and does not change the state of the wireless adapter. After checking on other examples (creating WLAN profile) on line, and this output of this command is not an issue at all. Another suspect is that when you didnt store any credential in this profile, so it might try using credential as blank.
