There is a Lock sign in the folders like those in the folders local disk C. Now I can not read those files and it is driving me mad. Can anyone please tell me how to restore it to the default settings? Please!

Hi, First, please ensure that you are the administrator of the computer. Then please follow the steps below to take the ownership. 1. Right-Click the file or folder. 2. Click Advanced, then hit Owner on the tab. 3. Then take the Ownership to you. Finally, to change the security setting, and give yourself the read and modify permission. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello, I had to re-install Windows 7 on my C: drive. But know on my D: drive I have a folder called Cakewalk Music (with about 30 or so sub folders and 20 mp3 files outside any sub-folder) that will not let me open a file, erase, or play any files! I tried the above routine, and now the file name is black, but all the files names within it are still green, and untouchable. I have taken over ownership too many times to count but as yet the files within the 30 or so folders are useless. HELP!!!!!
