How to change Windows 7 authentication from Kerberos to NTLM?
Hi! Can anyone tell me, where can i change Windows 7 authentication's mode from Kerberos to NTLM? In my company i have installed Windows 7 Professional ( 32 bit ) and it is joined to a domain. Our proxy server is using NTLM authentication, but if i turn on my Windows 7 PC, then i don't have internet connection for about 10-15 miutes ( intranet is working fine ). After this 10-15 minutes it is working fine. As far as i know, this is because Windows 7 is trying to authenticate first with Kerberos, and only after that it is trying with NTLM authentication. It is very annoying, so if it is possible i want to try what happens if i change the authentication from Kerberos to NTLM, but i can't find it. Thanks, kampi

How did you make sure that Kerberos is the issue? This begs for some low level research using a network monitoring uitility and maybe resource monitor. AFAIK there is no way to force NTLM authentication if Kerberos is an option. Can you tell us a bit more about your proxy? What type of proxy is it on what OS? Is it domain integrated? Hi VistaGuyRay! Unfortunately i don't know much about our proxy. I spoke with our Network Administrator and he said, that this is the problem, that our proxy don't know Kerberos. It can only use NTLM authentication. Yes, it is in domain. kampi

Hi kampi, To find the root, I recommend you use the Network Monitor to check what happened during those time. It will help you capture the network traffic. Hi Miya, Thanks for your reply. I installed Network Monitor, and tested it, but it gives a very huge information. Is there a specific value i should looking for? I can see, that internet explorer sends a request for opening for example www.google.hu, and in the second line, there is a response "Access denied (policy denied)". kampi
