How to cache results of network scans on Windows 7 to prevent repeated scanning ?
When I click the Network icon in the Windows 7 Explorer it starts scanning the network and finds all computers which is fine. However it does not seem to store/cache those results. If I open an other Explorer (or a file Open/Save dialog) a little bit later and again click the network icon, scanning restarts. This is quite annoying since the scan takes time and the result is almost always the same as the computers in the network normally don't change that fast. Is there a way to tell windows to 'remember' the results of a previous scan for later use (at least for the running session)?

Hi, Please check if the startup type of the following Services are automatic. DNS Client Function Discovery Resource Publication SSDP Discovery UPnP Device Host Also, test the issue again in Clean Boot Mode. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

I found some services you mentioned to be disabled. However enabling them did not change anything. Clean Boot Mode too did not help. Almost always when I click the network icon in Explorer or Save/Load dialog Windows well show no computers for 10 to 40 seconds until the new network scan produces results. I start believing that this is 'normal'.
