How to avoid windows corruption
Hi,I am using xp home SP2 in mymachine. I have a scheduler in my machine which restarts the machine twice in a day i.e. 6:00 A.M and 6:00 P.M from following commandshutdown -r -f -t 01 -c "Shutdown for maintenance"I am restarting my machine because my machine is ON 24 hours thats why i restart my machine twice a day just to avoid crashes and slow down of windows. But the problem is once or twice ina monthwindows gets corrupt and i get following messages.Windows\System directory was corrupted orWindows\Fonts\ directory was corruptedthen I had to boot using a windows installation cd to get to the recovery console and then ran chkdsk /r. It found errors and repaired them and after that it was able to boot properly. Is there any way that i can avoid windows crash permanently ?Or Is there any way that if operating system fails to boot then i can try another backup to boot the windows operating system that too automatically without any manual intervention ?Inputs on this problem will be highly appreciated. Thanks and Regards,DhirenNothing is impossible

Hello Dhirendra You should notget these corruption messages once or twice a month. If chkdsk /r always finds and repairs errors I would suspect that your hard drive is starting to have problems.Make sure you keep all your files backed up and run a manufactuter`s diagnostics on the drive This one gives a better report about how many bad sectors you have on HDD...You can use MHDD 4.6:http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/Burn as an ISO There are instructions how to use it under 'MHDD Documentation Or http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 If you don't know the make of hard drive Hitachi Drive Fitness Test will work with any make. The Hitachi 3rd download is for a bootable CD These files need to be burned as an ISO file using a program like Imgburn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download Start ImgBurn. You will see the the main programme window and a log.In the main programme window >> click "Write image file to disc".New window: Make sure ImgBurn has found your CD/DVD burner (Destination). Then click the "Browse for a file" icon.Another window will open >> find and select the ISO image you want to burn >> click Open.Back at the main programme window. Click "Write".ThenConfigure your PC to boot from CD if it isn't already set up that way. You may need to enter the BIOS to configure the PC to boot from the CD.Set the boot order to floppy (if present)CD/DVDROMHard diskSAVE and EXITPut the CD in the drive and reboot. It should run then.
