How to I restrict RDP sessions on Win 7 Professional to just 1?
We have five Windows 7 Pro Virtual Workstations (esx 4.0, vmware). We run several cpu/memory intensive applications and have to take turns using the workstations. Unfortunately, when we RDP into the workstation, others can as well. We are unable to provent people from logging on and starting a new session and eating up all the resources. I have found a way in the local group policy to limit connections to 1 via Computer Configuration-Administrative Templates-Windows Components-Remote Desktop Services-Remote Desktop Session Host-Connections- Limit number of connections. I have changed several options in that policy folder but more than one session is created. 1 person can only connect at once now, but if they do not log out, their session still runs. I have tried to edit the registry to change the fSingleSessionPerUser to 1 (it was already set to one), but to no avail. These are all new installs that have been fully updated. No third party connection or remote software has been installed. I have read through all the discussions and people only mention the above two options (excluding third party software). Does anyone know how to make each workstation only allow 1 session (like XP does). If you want to log into an XP workstation, the other must log out. This is the behavior they want. They are not responsible enough to log out and schedule workstation time. Any help would be appreciated.
