How does Windows determine if a computer is mobile?
How does Windows determine whether the computer on which it is installed is a desktop or a laptop/mobile computer? Many features (e.g. Windows 7 Location-Aware Printing) are only available on mobile computers, which is a shame because many desktops are also occasionally moved from place to place. So what is the determining factor in the eyes of Windows? ... and can it be told otherwise? Thanks,Jacques.

HiI'm not sure exactly what Windows checks to enebale all of the mobility components, but mobile devices are very different. BIOS, CPU, hardware, device drivers, battery components, etc.Hope this helps. Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Ronnie is correct. The Mobile feature is usually based on hardware since CPU technology and hardware are different between the Laptop and Desktop. Thanks, Novak
