I run a school lab of thirty two Apple iMac's that are running Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit Edition through bootcamp. I have a group policy that redirects student documents to a there own network share on our Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 file server. We used to be running Dell Precision Workstations running Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-bit Edition on which I manually disabled offline files when I install the machines, but under Windows 7 I could not figure out a way to do this so much to my sure grin they have been running with offline files enabled though it is grayed out. They seemed to be running O.K., but I have recently gotten some complaints from students about files that they are saving to there my documents folder on appearing when they use a different computer then the one that they created the document on. I have narrowed the problem down to offline files on successfully syncing back to the file server. I would like to disable the use of offline files through group policy, but am afraid of leaving some student files orphaned in the various file caches scattered round the network. Can I turn off offline files without a problem?
