How do you disable hyperlink warning message in Excel 2010, Windows 7 Professional 64bit?
I receive a warning box "Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer" when trying to open a hyperlink in Excel. In my particular case, the hyperlink is being opened from a SharePoint site. I have referred to multiple help forums, include all of the following "Related Topics" suggestions: Disabling Hyperlink warnings in Excel 2010 Windows 7 local shortcuts "do you want to open this file" warning Problems opening external Excel document from hyperlink Microsoft Excel has stopped working--64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit ... Each WORKBOOK in separate windows Excel 2010 Windows 7 None of these have fixed the issue. I have also followed the steps of this article: "How to enable or to disable hyperlink warning messages in 2007 Office programs and in Office 2010 programs", Article ID: 925757 I cannot find a key associated with the file type ".xlsm" to edit, which is the file type associated with my hyperlinks. I have disabled all of the security settings in Excel so it appears to be a Windows issue. Could 32bit vs 64bit be an issue? What other steps can I try?

As I stated above, I have already used this method with no success. The file type associated with the hyperlinks I'm trying to open do not appear in the registry directory. I have seen this article referenced for many people having similar issues and I'm finding that the method works for Windows XP users, but not so much for Windows 7.

I have it posted there as well. The reason I posted it here is because I believe it to be an issue beyond Excel. I have used multiple articles to deactivate security settings in Excel but this issue seems to be a Windows 7 issue.

Hi, Please try to create a new hyperlink which is not opened from a SharePoint site to check the result. Meanwhile, temporarily disable the firewall, anti-virus to test the issue. If the issue persists, you can also to create a new user account. More information: Fix a corrupted user profile Hope this helps. Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

It appears to be a SharePoint site issue. I can open other hyperlinks and local file hyperlinks without receiving the message. The issue is also with .xlsm, macro enabled files.

Hi, Since this issue only occurred with a SharePoint site, I suggest you can add the SharePoint site to Trusted Sites to test the issue. Regards, Vincent Wang TechNet Community Support

Turns out not to be an issue with SharePoint. It really seems to be a Windows 7 setting because I have adjusted numerous settings in Excel, including adding the SharePoint to the trusted sites. The Microsoft article "How to enable or to disable hyperlink warning messages in 2007 Office programs and in Office 2010 programs", Article ID: 925757 seems to be on the right track, but the steps for Windows 7 are not producing the same results as for Windows XP. A colleague of mine is doing the exact same process as me and using this article he was able to disable the hyperlink warning. I have not had as much luck with the Windows 7 steps. Also, the macro I'm using pulls data out of one Excel file and copies into another file.
