How do I stop my Win7 Home Premium laptop connecting to open wireless networks when it wakes up
If my laptop wakes up from sleep, it connects to my neighbors open wifi ap, and I cant find a way to stop it from happening. This to me is a massive flaw in security. I often dont notice (because you dont expect a quality OS to connect to any old open wifi ap willy nilly), and could be exposing myself to hackers. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

1. open Network and Sharing Center 2. in the left pane click on Manage wireless network 3. right-click your network SSID and select Properties 4. In the Connection tab check Connect automatically when this network is in range

I have the same problem. A while ago I connected to the neighbours open wifi to check on something, because our internet had gone down. Every time I now turn my laptop on, it automatically connects to their network, even though I have a perfectly working protected wifi network set as the top priority in the list of networks. How can I stop it connecting to the unprotected one? Their network is not in the listings in the step above. Maybe there is a reference to it in the registry somewhere that needs removing or something? I don't have a clue where to look though. Thanks.
