Hi everyone,

In December of 2014 windows updates stopped functioning. Three months past the warranty expiration. I'm on a fixed income with no extra funds.

How can I get windows updates working again? I've tried everything I know, including a restore back to orig. factory start. Still no updates. 

Any help, suggestions or advice have my thanks in advance.

what error code do you receive?

do you have internet connectivity? Can you browse to update.microsoft.com using your browser?

Are you able to manually download and install the updates in your system as a test?

As mentioned by SenneVL, check the error codes and connection.

check the event viewer, and see if we can find more information about this issue.

You mentioned that you've tried to factory reset, then this should be a clean system now, can you confirm that the restore has been performed successfully? So you're in Windows 8 now? Have you tried to re-check for updates in Control Panel\Windows Up
