How do I find the DNS registered on the computer/
I am a bit confused about the DNS, I have been under the impression that it was necessary to actually "purchase" the name, but after further research I have gotten the idea that there is already one within the windows xp program that I may use. I may be completely confused but either way would appreciate input on how I may locate the DNS or if I do need to follow my original idea and purchase one. Thanks1 person needs an answerI do too

Please give us more information to help understand your question. What do you mean by "DNS"? What do you want to do that requires "DNS"? Where would you go to purchase one?In Windows, "DNS" stands for Domain Name System , which isn't something that you can purchase.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

DNS isn't something youpurchase. There are many DNS servers all over the world, and they (atleast one of them) are something you use, not own. Here's how a DNS server is used. We tend to think of URLs as addressesof web sites, but actually they are not. The address is really an IPaddress. Your browser automatically uses a DNS server is look up andtranslate the URL you enter (for example microsoft.com) to its IPaddress (207.46.197.32).So please explain what you want to accomplish and for what purpose.Ken Blake (MS MVP)
