How do I find out what programs are accessing my internet connection?
I have a relatively slow (satellite) internet connection. When programs reach out for updates or whatever, the response time for my internet searches goes way down but I don't know what the offending programs are and how to lower their priority. Sometimes when I'm working on a WORD or PowerPoint document my computer seems to go off to never-never land which I believe is some background task waiting for a response from the internet. Thanks, Mike1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,· Since when are you facing this issue?· Do you remember making any changes to the system?· Does this happen randomly or only whenever you use word on the system?· Do you get any error message when this happens?· Which browser do you use? I would suggest you to do a clean boot on the system and then check whether you are able to access the internet without any issues. How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" statehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 Apart from that, I would suggest you to take a look at the article mentioned below.Possible Issues and Resolutions for Slow Connection Speeds in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/310590 Thank you and Regards.
