It is a rather long proccess of which I posted on here yesterday and now today has been deleted. So I guess I cannot give you a link to that post, however I can get you started. You have tofirst open regedit as admin. Then starting from the very root key, you have to work your way down the chain up to the key your trying to edit changing ownership and giving yourself permission, as I said, it can be a very long process. But doing this will give you full control overany aspect of those keys that you give yourself permission on.Good luck, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Alright thanks for the tip. I will try it out when I get home tonight It would be nice if Microsoft would realize they will never match the security of Linux and stop putting in things that do nothing but cause issues for 3rd party software apps.

Can someone please post how to do this? I've went round and round with Logitech trying to delete out some VID keys that screwed up my wireless mouse. I've tried all kinds of things from taking ownership of my entire 'C' drive in safe mode, etc. Can someone please post a detailed description on the steps required to delete a VID key. Thanks

Those keys should only be modifiedvia the Device Installer APIs. Modifying them directly may have inadvertant effects on system stability, corrupt the driver cache or prevent you from reinstalling drivers that access those devices.

Thanks for the reply, but I know which VID keys I need to delete and am comfortable enough in doing so. That doesn't answer my question though about the process. please help

You can try forcibly taking ownership in an elevated copy of Regedit. It's not guaranteed to work and you may never be able to correctly install/uninstall the driver which created those keys though.

You basically just have to keep working the tree, taking ownership of a key. Granting the owner full control. Then refreshing to see if there are subkeys. Then repeating the process as many times as necessary.
