How do I automount a password protected NAS catalogue?

I am helping a person who wants to store his/her thunderbird mail on a NAS on the household local network.

My main problem is that I am a typical UNIX/Linux user since forever and when I do things on a Windows computer I mostly guess though with professional computing for more than 30 years I mostly manage to make correct guesses. This time, however, I seem to fail.

I have managed to map the catalogue so that

192.168.2.4//homes/username/thunderbird-backup

is mapped to Z:

but at every login thunderbird fails to connect until I use the username and password to login to the server. I simply don't understand how to store and access the correct credentials.

Hi,

Based on my understanding, you want to map the network drive(NAS) to automatically connect, right?

If yes, just try this:

1. Open the File Explorer, Click Computer tab, click Map network drive as below:

2. In the Drive list, tap or click a drive letter. You can choose any available letter.

3. In the Folder box, enter the path of the NAS, or click Browse to find it. To connect every time you sign in to your computer, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box.

4. Click Finish.

If it doesn't reconnect at sign in, follow this thread to troubleshoot:
