By design Remote Desktop [RDC] will only allow one person to be logged on a RDC host at a time. If you want to store your credentials and not be presented with the login window check the checkbox to save your login information.http://cid-25ab668da65c8fbe.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Windows%20images/SaveRDPCredentials.pngMS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

you did not understood me i have two computer one desktop one laptop every time i connect to my laptop the laptop screen changes to the welcome screen i don't want this i want to able to do things in my laptop and at the same time be able to see everything on the laptop screen

Again by design that is not possible with Remote Desktop [RDC]. Look at Remote Assistance or VNC or TeamViewer as alternatives if you need to remotely access the computer/laptop and be able to simultaneously see the desktop locally.MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Why do people have to play the "I'll go to xxx OS because of this" card??Desktop versions of Windows have always had this limitation - only one user can be logged on and using the machine at a time. Multiple concurrent sessions (what you want) is a feature that's limited to Server versions of Windows. Always been like this - it's not a "Windows 7 thing."That said, there are ways to get what you'd like, but without resorting to third-party apps. Your Google homework: search for windows 7 concurrent sessionsGood article: http://www.missingremote.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3293&Itemid=1I'd like to point one thing about this out: you'll need two user accounts on the machine (one for local logon, one for RDP logon.) Can't have the same account logged in (and active) twice.HTH,Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Keep in mind this hack is totally unsupported...Its also possible it may violate the Windows 7 license terms for a standalone computer/laptop/workstation.MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

I had forgotten about Live Mesh Remote Desktop. It appears that you would be able at least to see the laptop screen. A partial solution perhaps...https://www.mesh.com/Welcome/features/features.aspxFrom the FAQ...By default, the screen on your remote computer is blacked out. This helps protect your privacy as you work, preventing others from seeing what you're doing on the remote computer while you're connected to it. If you'd like the screen on the remote computer to be visible to others, in the Live Mesh bar, click Show desktop on remote device.http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=live_mesh&market=EN-US&querytype=keyword&query=refasUsers will be still logged off if you read further down in the FAQ... What if someone is using the remote computer to which I want to connect? If someone is actively using the remote computer to which you're trying to connect, they'll see a notification that you're trying to connect to the computer. If your request is not denied within 30 seconds, you'll be connected automatically. What if someone wants to use the computer to which I am connected? Someone who wants to use the computer to which you're connected can press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to log on to the computer, ending your session. Pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE will work even if you have chosen to hide the desktop on the remote computer. MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

What i don't like about microsoft is that everything they do are always so basic basic RDP basic painter basic movie maker basic messenger basic everything why is that so hard for you to understand thet as a company to design operating system you have some obligation to create good software software that every OS would have not something like team viewer or vnc or logmein or any other software that you need to install on bote computers but something that already arrives with the windows itself like RDP can you imagine what it would be like if RDP has Multiple concurrent sessions as you call it and it had it on all computers? or a better painter or a better movie maker and etc most people wouldn't had to bother with downloading 3rd software all the time and to install them again and again on seperate computers but no you have to create the most basic of softwares all the time even in your newest windows 7 you can't add a simple option like Multiple concurrent sessions because NO!!!!! this option of one of windows server so it can't be in the normal version even thoughe every free software like teamviewer or logmein have it you practicly force people to use 3rd softwares with this attitude and i tell i will check to see if i can use linux or something eles as a replacement for microsoft attitude and if i discover an a good alternative operating system this will be the last time i would install windows operating system at least for my own personal use.

Should they put in all the stuff you want, who could buy the OS. It would probably be too expensive. Microsoft doesn't aim for the graphical artist with paint. They added paint to the OS, to enrich its functionality. What do you think would happen if MS were to add a fullblown photo editing tool in Windows. They would probably get sued by Adobe and many other software companies that charge for that same functionality...They could also strip out all the extras, so you are left with an empty shell (literally) and you are required to buy the extra software, Microsoft normally puts in with limited functionality, from other parties...They deliver a fair amount of software with Windows, perhaps not all with the desired functionality, but it gives third party software companies a chance to sell their product. On a side note, you do not have to install teamviewer. You can download it and choose to run the software, instead of installing it from the installer executable, when you use it for non-commercial purposes. And if you want to use Linux, go ahead... Nobody is stopping you... But if you're anything like me, you'll end up with Windows once again, since all the programs you like probably only run in Windows. If you try it, would you mind telling us if Linux worked out for you, please? Jeroen Hems

the big problem with microsoft behavior is that there making there softwares too basic i don't a painter to look like photoshop i want a painter that have the funcunallity of i don't know ifran view or something like this i want them to at least match to freeware software who's out there like teamviewer in it's non commercial version that is all. i want i want them to offer the same version as free versions can offer nothing more and nothing less the problem is that on most if not all cases there softwares has less funcunality then even the most basic of freeware software out there. windows 7 movie maker for example is the most misrable movie maker software i have ever encounter you can't even mirror a video you can only flip the movie by 90 degress or something like this not long ago i wanted to reverse a dreamscence from left to right to right to left because my os is in hebrew and i wanted to see the dreamscence on the left side of the screen where usually in english os is my computer button and etc and i couldn't because there were two misrable ways to change the directon of the movie. in the end i had to install videomach of gromada to do it and that is why eventually i have decided there is no reason for me to use any of windows live essentials because there too empty and too basic for any slightly advance user such as my self because today i don't deal with too much graphics or video editing as before so i longer install high end softwares so to speak so i only need some very basic functions every now and again but windows live essentials and even windows painter don't always provide me with those simple editing options and that is my problem that they don't always really think about all those software that they are developing it's look like half baked software that somebody congered up in like five minutes and nothing more. for example windows painter i usually use it for just one purpose copy pasta picture erase what i don't want people to see and upload them that's all but in painter there is a trick with the color selector in xp for example you press color 1 you choose color one you press color 2 you choose color 2 but here no choosing color 1 or 2 doesn't change doesn't change the color the color selector chooses no what you need to do is to press left mouse button for color 1 and right mouse button for color 2 now as i understand it it was possible in xp as well but amazingly i never noticed it i always choosed color 1 for color 1 and color 2 for color 2(you can find a more comprehnsive thread and information if you search for my nickname). but here they just removed this option without giving it a second thought i mean why make windows 7 painter with less options then what it was before?and the same goes for movie maker and other software microsoft have developed recently, who know maybe in the future will discover that IE9 don't even have a search option or something eles as equally basic because of commercial reasons. i just don't understand it i think that the biggest problem with windows 7 is that he's too much effected by commercial reasons and not functunallity reasons and that is why i'm thinking of at least trying linux because he's not effected by commercial reasons as windows 7
