How can I switch to the administrator to make driver changes?
I am baffled and have read all the threads on how to log in as administrator in Win 7. I have premium edition.
I need to uninstall and reinstall drivers for a usb device and the only account I can use on my own laptop is a user account, not admin. I cannot change the settings to make this user acct the admin because I cannot log in as the admin.
The admin user is not disabled yet I cannot log in as the admin.
Can someone address this in step by step instructions?
It seems crazy that as the owner of this laptop and the only user, I cannot do anything that requires admin rights and I can't change it to make it work.
PS Yes I have tried the cmd process and it failed as well. In the meantime I have a usb hard drive that I cannot access or use with valuable files I need.

Try booting in safe mode to see if the inbuilt administrator account is
available. If not, and you don't have another admin account then you need to
reinstall windows.
