How can I stop Offline Files from syncing over VPN?
I've got a laptop with Windows 7 RTM installed which I use on the road during the day. I VPN home and Offline files correctly recognises that the link is slow and operates offline. So far so good. The problem is that after the VPN has been up a while Offline Files decides to sync all my changes over the VPN. As my VPN is over a 3G wireless service this costs me quite a bit in data charges. Can I use policy or something else to tell Offline Files to only sync when its Online? The file server is Windows 2008 x64 standard, patched to current.Regards,Luke Smith

Examine the group policy settings under:Computer Configuration \ Policies* \Administrative Templates \ Network \ Offline FilesYou may want to change the settings for 'Background Sync' and 'Configure Slow Link Mode'. You may also want to invest in a better data plan. :)* If using domain-based policiesNed Pyle [MSFT] - MS Enterprise Platforms Support - Beta Team

BOOYA! 'Configure Slow Link Mode' is exactly what I'm after. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to test. I copied the ADMX's fromC:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions on my Windows 7 RTM machine to the\\mydomain.local\SYSVOL\mydomain.local\Policies\PolicyDefinitions folder and this GPO showed up in GPMC on my 2008 non-R2 server.
