How can I set up a network between XP and Windows 7?
Hello,Recently I installed Windows 7 on 1 of my 2 computers. The other one is a windows XP, this one is Windows 7.Before I installed Windows 7, I had two computers with XP.A network between te 2 computers was created succesfully. But since I have installed Windows 7, after formatting one pc, i can not create a network from XP to W7.Because i'm new to Windows 7 I cannot figure out how to set up a network. So I want to set up a network between Windows 7 and XP, trough a HUB.No router involved, just a HUB.Can anyone explain me how to set up such a network. And cause i'm a noob with WIndows 7, please explain it detailed ;)(sorry about my english, but i'm dutch, so sometimes I don't know very well how to explain)Thank you very much,den_hippieEDIT:The XP can't find the Windows 7 computer, and Windows 7 can't find the XP computer.Maybe someone can tell me from the beginning how I set up a network...I don't know if I did it the right way and I don't know either what i did ;)

Go to Start Menu > Help and Support.Make sure your Help and support is selected for "Offline Help", in the bottom right hand corner. In the search box please type: Networking home computers running different versions of WindowsThe #1 Result is the one you will want to click onI believe the information contained in that help file will give you what you need. (It was far too much to copy and past into the thread)Hopefully that will help you.

Turn on file sharing on both XP and Windows 7.In my computer using Windows 7use map network drive to find the XP files. That one was easy.My XP do not want to fine Windows 7.I right clicked my hard drive in Windows 7 and went to properties and hit security. In security hit Edit and add Everyone.Allow Everyone permissions to everything. Now on the XP I right clicked my computer and hit network map drive.I' now seeing all six of my drives on Windows 7 and can use 2 of my DVD burner on my Windows 7 computerHope this helps
