How can I report a Windows 7 bug?
It appears that there is no simple way to report a Windows 7 bug. Here goes: I have an NAS I use for automated backups over a wifi network. I map the network location as a drive (selecting reconnect at login) and everything is fine UNTIL a reboot, when the system tries and fails to reconnect the drive. This appears to be because the drive mapping is attempted before the WiFi connection is established. A quick search of technet shows that this is a common fault. The obvious answer is to ensure that drive mappings are not attempted until a network connection is established (doh). Given that this problem has been around since XP, it is apparently not on a Microsoft bug list. How do I report it?

Once the network connections is up and running. Then you may find that the network drive is automatically connected. Otherwise, if any (Wired/Wireless) network connection is not present on the machine, it would definately exibhit the drive as disconnected (with a Red X mark on it) . This is a but obvious explanation as to why the network drive is not connected (because there is no network). The machine needs to show the mapped drive with a Red X in the absence of any network connection. This will not be counted as a bug, as the machine will show the drive as disconnected, even when there is no network connected to the machine.

The "workaround" is to use a bacth file to map the drives..works great..you can have the file pause to give your connection time. My wi-fi connects as soon as the firewall allows it, then my batch runs from the startup folder.

Hi, I suggest updating BIOS and installing the latest device drivers for the router and NAS from the manufacturer's website. 1. Please boot the Clean Boot to check if it works properly. Hope it helps. Regards, Sabrina
