How can I remove a network profile from a Laptop?
By mistake I created a network - internet connection on my LapTop, and not on my PC. Whenever I want to connect to the Internet, I have to plug in the ethernet cable directly to the modem. When I want to use the PC then I disconnect the laptop and I connect the PC to the modem. What I want to do is have the PC connected to the modem and the LapTop to connect wireless through the router. I have Windows 7 Professional edition, if someone could help me with issue I would appreciate. Thank you Chiquita_Bonita

you dont have to remove the present profile, simply create another one. in this case, i believe your router has multiple ethernet ports. you have to connect the modem to the router(using the appropriate port) second connect ethernet cable btw PC and router, then the laptop can connect wirelessly to the router. This way the router serves as the gateway to both the PC and the Laptop. Pls let me know if u need more help. Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"

I did that. It is asking me for a password. I have typed the router password and nothing seems to work. Thank you.Chiquita_Bolinita

Thank you very much for the two links you gave me. They were useful. I was able to trouble shoot the problem without having to hire a computer technician. It took me a few hours, and now I'm able to use my laptop wireless. Also I encrypted the connection. Thank you again. Now I have another questions. I believe I should ask in a different section. My laptop is one year old and it takes too long to open the main page. How should I clean items which I no longer use? I know how to clean defrag and clean the disk, what else should I do? I am haveing the same problemm my daughter created a network on her new laptop and now my other devices, NOOK, PS3, another laptop will not access the network without a password. I was not present when she set up the network, befor this it was named after the brand, NETGEAR and no passwords were necessary, it was an open signal, all my devices picked it up , they still do under the new name but it askes for a password. So do i need to creat another network for these devices ?? Thanks for any info.

your daughter must have secured the network by adding a network security key.to reset or recreate the network, go to the links suggested earlier in this thread to see how.Tunde Abagun MCP,MCSA,MCTS,MCITP en p "for the love of Computers"
