How can I overcome being locked out at the very first screen?

Hi there.

A couple of days ago I purchased a new Toshiba Encore WTB-A 8 inch pad.

I tried all day yesterday to set this up with an Microsoft account for her (as this is required, I believe)  but the setting up continually defaulted to "my account".

To cut a long story short, I managed to get some information onto it before I was locked out and advised to try tomorrow (that is now today)

Today, before I did anything, I created an MS account in her name on my desktop PC. When that was set up I tested it a few times on the PC logging in and out of it and all went well.

I then turned on the 8 inch pad and I was presented with the blue security screen which displayed the wife's name, an email address  (family use) for yahoo.

I was requested to enter in the password (for that email account I think) which I did.

I was denied access and a red directive said I should go to www.account.live.com, which I did, per my desktop PC. I logged in but saw nothing there that would suggest an error, nor was I able to find a remedy to overcome my problem either.

So the problem is, Windows will not accept the email P/W for the displayed yahoo email address nor will it let me in so that I may work with the Windows 8.1.

I am reluctant to blindly keep entering the rejected PW as it may complicate matters even worse, if that is at all possible.

I "REALLY" could use some help here please.

Hi Janset

If I understand correctly the you are able to login to the yahoo microsoft account on your desktop PC, but when you try this on your new Toshiba encore, that same password doesn't work.

First, be sure you're trying to login with the same yahoo microsoft account on your desktop pc. (Windows can log you in automatically with another microsoft account).

If the login fails, you will need to click on "forgot your password" and start the password reset procedure.

If you have verified that you are able to login to the yahoo microsoft account on your desktop pc, but it still doesn't work on the tablet. We need to look at the tablet itself.

In the bottom left on the login screen of the tablet, there should be a wifi symbol, click on this and connect to your home network (make sure it says its connected to internet). Also, make sure the onscreen keyboard has your language layout, when installing the device it might've been installed with a different keyboard layout (different from your desktop pc)

When you logged in succesfully in the device, you can change the account settings in the control panel, remove the yahoo address, and add the newly created microsoft account of your wife.

Please let me know if any of this was of any help or if I can assist you further

Kind regards
