How can I disable the forced hibernation on high temperature?

Hi !

I recently installed Windows 8 and it's giving me serious headache since my laptop has temperature troubles.

It (my laptop) usually reaches 100 C (373 Kelvin, as W8 says), and it automatically shutdown (it used to hibernate, but I disabled that thinking it would fix the problem) when reaches that temperature.

All I want to know is the way to disable or rise the limit temperature, since it's OS "problem", not HW (windows 7 didn't shutdown my laptop at all).

I know 100 C it's too high temperature and it's risky to work with, but it's a risk I've decided to take, and Windows 8 it's not letting me :(

Thank you ! :D

The hardware or Windows will not let you damage your computer to the point of stupidity. You cannot override this behaviour as it's part of the hardware, not just Windows. If Windows 8 is causing an overheat, you likely either have a missing driver or incompatible driver causing erratic behaviour.

Well, I'm not trying to fix temperature problems but OS turning off my computer. I know it's risky and want I still to do it.

It should be possible since when I had Windows 7, the laptop reached 100 C and it didn't shutdown.

On the other hand, I know I should fix the temperature problems by changing hardware or updating/reinstalling/removing some driver, but that's not my question.

Have you tried disabling any CPU health options in your BIOS?

I can't find any option in my BIOS related to CPU health. Here are some photos of my BIOS (I guess boot priority and exit are not needed): http://sdrv.ms/16k5omu

Sometimes, the question is too dangerous to answer. In this case, you will only further damage your hardware by not finding the underlying cause of why the machine is overheating under Windows 8. Since you've gone through your BIOS and there are no options in regards to this, it's time to find the underlying cause.

As I said, I know the laptop could be set on fire if I disable that feature on Windows 8, but reaching 100 C is just a spike on my machine, and I also can afford a new laptop in the extreme case this one dies.

I guess I won't choose LG as manufacturer again for any of my laptops, because I have had temperature problems since I bought this laptop (but it seems to be pretty rough at all).

Since we don't find a way to disable the option of shutting down my laptop I guess I'm going back to Windows 7, where it can happily burn as I want to.

Also, I'm 100% like XKCD guy right now :<

Oscar,

I have the same question, but for Windows 7. You mention that you have it solved for W7. Could you please elaborate how?

Thanks

Yossi
