How can I disable Windows Security Alerts?
I am giving 2 computers as birthday gifts to 2 young grandchildren to be used for word processing and printing only. They have both been told by their parents that they will never be allowed to have computers in their bedrooms connected to the Internet. Both computers are running the Windows XP Pro version 2002 OS with Service Pack 3. It is annoying to have the "Your computer may be at risk....." warning pop up every time one of the computers is booted up, especially since closing the message does not always keep it from appearing again. Anyone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks for the tip -- finally no more annoying balloon! Using this method allowed me to re-enable Windows Firewall (not sure if it will be of any use since the computers will NEVER be connected to the Internet -- I have disabled the network connection to be sure) and Norton Auto-Protect (which also protects against viruses on cd's) without getting alerts if they are out-of-date. Obviously, the Norton will be of limited value as I have no way to update virus definitions. I will just have to threaten the grandkids with dire consequences if they ever bring and run cd's from outside the house that might possibly be infected.
