I don't want it but I can't avoid it to start with windows. More, if I terminate it (and SearchFilterHost.exe and SearchProtocolHost.exe), it starts again. I search for it on services but I can't found it. Thanks.

To disable searchindexer.exe in windows 7 try this! * Click Start Button –> Control Panel –> Programs and Features –> Turn Windows Features on or off. * Clear the Indexing Service’s chek box on the “Windows Features” window and click ok. Curious, why don't you want it? The Start menu (Orb) Search bar is one of the best features of Windows 7. It makes it so much more useable, and Indexing does not seem to place any load on the system For instance, if I want to open Task Scheduler, I click on the Start orb, type sch and either click on Task Scheduler that shows in the found list or just press Enter since Task Scheduler is already selected.Rich Why can't I be different and original like everybody else? - Vivian Stanshal

I really don't use the search 4.0, I was very comfortable with the previous. When I need to search for a filename, I don't need the 4.0, and if I need to search for a content into a file, I prefer the TotalCommander to search. In the discussion forums about the W7 beta testing I proposed a search with checkboxes: more intuitive, easy and comprehensible even for my 85 years old mom ;)
