How Direct Access client, select the endpoint server?

How Direct Access client, select the endpoint server?

For one of my client machine, its picking up the wrong endpoint point server, which is across the WAN and not the local one.

How can I fix this.

Hi

I assume we are talking of a Windows 8 client connecting to a Windows Server 2012 based Direct Access infrastructure? In this situation the first enpoint that appear available will be used. As far as i know, there is no way to change this behavior.

The only way to controll witch Enpoint server is to use Global Server Load Balancing feature of a HLB Appliance vendor such as F5. In this scenario, it's the Appliance that respond to the Direct Access client with the nearest endpoint. This operate at DNS Response level. This approach work with Windows 7 and Windows 8 clients.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for reply Benoit,

Yes we are taking about Win 8 and multisite Win 2012 DA.

I do have this problem with only one client rest all are working as they should,

is there some kind of cache or other setting needs to be cleaned at client machine.

Ping response is faster to local server from this machine.

No there is nothing we can do unless you want to invest in GSLB. In this case you can create Policy based on geographic locations.

You can enable the option so that users can choose which endpoint they are connected to with a drop-down menu.

Jordan is right. if there is not automatic method (Unless GSLB, ...), we can rely on user to change of entrypoint.
