How Can I Use the Math Input Panel?
I was rather excited when I learned about Windows 7's Math Input Panel, but now that I've actually tried to use it it seems to me that it's more of a gimmick than a genuinely useful tool. I understand that it represents equations in MathML, but it does not want to paste the raw MathML markup into my text editors. Apparently Word (of course) supports it, but Word isn't exactly the standard in typesetting. Ideally I'd want to use the Math Input Panel as a handy way of writing equations for use in LaTeX, and although I can find utilities that purport to convert MathML to LaTeX, it does me no good if I can't paste the MathML markup! In fact, I have read on other websites that there is nothing bundled with Windows 7 that supports the MIP. Is this true?Does anyone here have any suggestions as to how I can get any use out of this feature in Windows 7?

I dont think we will ever be able to copy-paste anything from math input panel to latex documents (I hope someone will come up with a solution, maybe a third party app). Other than that, math input panel would be helpful for powerpoint presentations, class-handouts ...

Still, all of that requires the user to purchase additional Microsoft software in order to use the application supposedly bundled with Windows. Why bundle something with Windows if it's unusable by itself? Especially when all it would take to make it useful is the ability to paste the MathML into a plain text document! This is very frustrating for me.

Hey - I'm programming a solution for this... It's an own Latex-Editor. Check www.inlage.com for more Informations and download&test the beta-Version!! The conversion works really fine - only by clicking the Insert Button you'll get the Latex code into your document... http://www.inlage.com Feddback would be nice!

This looks like exactly the sort of program that would be most helpful to me. Unfortunately it does not seem to work for me, so I left a note through your website detailing my problem. If you can fix it, I'd be happy to mark your post as the best solution to this issue.
