Hotkeys in certain applications do not function intermittently
Does anyone know of any tools/applications that can capture assigned hotkeys universally on Windows 7? We have an issue were intermittently, CTRL + B, CTRL +H and CTRL + Y (and possibly other hotkeys) do not perform any function at all in Office applications. While this may be an Office issue, we are not sure because we are at a loss on how to troubleshoot this issue since it does not happen consistently. Our only thought is that there is an application installed that is "hijacking" the hotkeys for some other function that we do not know about. It is difficult to even make that assumption since this only happens intermittently. We have this problem across all of our Windows 7 installations (laptop or desktop). Our users are unable to install applications themselves (user permissions only with UAC enabled) so I do not think its some sort of malware. Its possible that some other application we are installing may cause this but we cannot disable these functions for long periods of time on our users system. They need these tools in order to work. However, it would be nice if there was an application out that can detect all the active hotkeys that are assigned. Any assistance or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Hi, Sounds like a software conflicts, if this issue does not occur constantly, you need pay attention on the difference between two situations, such as certain program is running when this issue happens. Meanwhile, you can check customized shortcuts in Office: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/organization/compshortcuts.aspx#fbid=v4ZkLMyZF_B Some references: Keyboard Shortcuts http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/keyboard.aspx Keyboard shortcuts for Windows http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449 If you have any feedback on our support, please click hereAlex Zhao TechNet Community Support

McRaeman, No - none of the systems are Sony machines. Our desktops are Dells and our laptops are Lenovo.

Alex, Thanks for the reply. I have seen most of these links you have provided and there isnt much there that helps me determine if something is hijacking the default hotkeys. We have quite a few add-ins and applications running (such as forms assistant apps, DMS, email archiving, etc) that are running in the background. Since they are running in the background its hard to "pay attention" to the situation when it happens. Plus, I can't get away with disabling everything to troubleshoot because the user may need these tools/applications to do their job. Its difficult to troubleshoot. I was hoping to see if there are any tools/logging/diagnostic tools that can help me determine if there is something strange going on at runtime with these applications.
