Honey, I locked my dad laptop!
Hey Guys, I was setting my dad's computer up (brand new and all), I swear I did not set up a password. The second time we turned it on it worked ok in fornt of him, but when he was on his own updating McAfee after a while he called me asking me for the password. I went the Safe Mode to reset the password, but the Administrator account did not show up, but his only account. Is there other way to work around it? Thanks a lot! Sleepless in Laurel.

Hi, Hope the following thread can help you. How to Reset a User Account Password in Vista http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/102005-reset-user-account-password.html Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Mostly, this issue is caused by virus. They disable/delete/destroy the Administrator account and change the current user account password. Because the current user account do not have password, virus can change the password easily. In order to avoid the issue happens again in future. I suggest you install an anti-virus software and make a strong password for the user. Log back into safe mode and log in as your fathers account. Then goto My Computer Right Click, Manage, Once you get there goto Users and Groups and when you goto Users, you will see "Administrator", right click on it and uncheck the Disable this account option. Log back in and you should be able to log in as the administrator.
