Homegroup stopped working
I have a home network with three physical machines and in one 4 virtual machines. All physical machines are connected (wired) through a router and through that to the internet via Cable modem. Until Wednesday the homegroup was working fine between all of them allowing file sharing controlled by share options chosen. On Wednesday after doing the monthly updates (although not necessarily caused by them) the Homegroup stopped working. I have tried the following options. Leave the Homegroup from one physical machine reboot and then rejoin homegroup - NO success. Leave homegroups from two physical machines reboot, create new homegroup and join from the two physical machines - NO success. Leave homegroup from both physical machines and change advanced sharing settings turning off password protected sharing - NO success. On trying to open the network (as all the machines are in the same workgroup) I thought |I could transfer files that way but one of the physical machines is now asking for a Network password. I am running out of options and need some help Alan Cameron

Hi, Is the Windows Time service running? You could check the its status under service. For your reference: You may receive a misleading error message when trying to join a Windows 7 Homegroup, when the computer's date and time does not match the date/time of system that owns the homegroup http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2002121 What is the result in Clean Boot mode? This method should eliminate effect of the third-party software. Hi, Thanks Alex that has solved oine of the problems. The Windows Time service in the two physical macines was in manual and not started. I started it in both machines and in one direction I can see all the library contents of the other but not in the reverse direction. Operationally that is not a problem as I can push the data to the one I cannot suck from. The problem still exists why not?Alan Cameron

Hi, If I understand correctly, you cannot see or access the share library of one computer. If so, I suggest you check the library share settings to confirm if you set it up correctly.
