Homegroup refuses to show my computers
I have a Win7Pro PC and a Win7PRO Netbook. Both connect fine through the Internet. Both were sharing files until a few days ago when I ran a optimizing/clean-up program and then removed the application. I have reinstalled it on both computers just as a potential elimination of missing registry info, but it doesnt change anything. The PC is LAN connected and the netbook is wireless. I can't get it back to where it was. I have opened a new Homegroup with both on "Home". They both are NOT connected to a domain and ARE connected to the same workgroup. Under Network, both are visible but only the local PC shows any files (cannot see each others files). Temporarily turning-off the firewall on each machine is no help. Under Homegroup nothing shows for computers. I have tried troubleshooter and many combinations literally a dozen times with no results. in Summary, when I click on the remote computer under Network, a Network Error box continues to come up Windows cannot access \\XXXXXXX. Under Homegroup, no computer shows. Under Network, no files show under the remote computer. Both computers now react exactly the same.

Test the settings of firewall. Temporarily you can disable firewall to test, if the problem is in firewall settings. I am afraid that your complaints should be directed to the optimizing/clean-up program vendor or its support forum. My recommendation: 1. Use backup restore functionality to get your installation to previous functional status. 2. Never use programs for "cleaning" unless you are sure that these programs are on compatibility list. (Do not expect reasonable answer here, if you use thisrd party program that is not certified by MS.) Regards Milos
