Homegroup acting up severely
Ok, I have been trying for three days to get Homegroup to work. Setup: 1 Desktop, wired connection, Win 7 Pro. 1 Netbook, wireless connection, Win 7 Home 1 Laptop, wireless connection, Win 7 Pro Both wireless connections are setup as a "Home Network" and appear on the network just fine. I can start the homegroup on ANY of the computer but I will use the desktop as the example here: I leave all homegroups on all three computers. On the desktop I click on :"Create a HomeGroup" I select what I want to share (everything on there), (At this point in time both wireless computers show "Create a HomeGroup" on their screens. When I click on Next on the Desktop both wireless computers will change from having "Create a HomeGroup" to "Join Now" I click "Join Now" and type in the password then I get: "You have joined the HomeGroup" You can be begin accessing files and printers shared by other people in the HomeGroup." Then I click Finish. Then it goes to a screen that says: "No other HomeGroup computers are currently available" Then goes through some notes. Now, from all three computers if I go to Network and Sharing center they all say they are on the Network, Home Network, Access Type: Internet, HomeGroup: Joined, Connections: Local Area Connection (Or Wireless Network Connection). Everything appears to work just fine. I know each of the computers can see the other because as soon as I create a HomeGroup each of the other two will see it. No matter which computer I start it on. All of the computers have the same Date and Time (give or take a few seconds) They are all on a Homegroup (not a workgroup) I have completely uninstalled Eset Security Suite from all three computers to see if that was the problem (It was not) I even went through all of the tips at Eset's website. The Windows Firewall service is running. Computers are all named something different. They are not part of a workgroup. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/home-sweet-homegroup-networking-the-easy-way did not work for me. I am just at my wits end here =(

It sounds like you're connected ok but you just need to go into your Libraries and share some folders.

Hi, Please temporarily uninstall all third party antivirus program and firewall on the machine, and then turn on Windows Firewall to check the result. Can HomeGroup work fine now? If not, I suggest you open "Windows Firewall" and click "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall". In the opened window, please check the following items and test the issue again: Core Networking; File and Printer Sharing HomeGroup; Network Discovery Thanks, Novak

@Andrew I clicked all of the folders to be shared that were available during the wizard. I have also gone in and specifically set up other folders to be shared that I wanted to be shared. @ Novak As I said in my original post, I did uninstall my antivirus / Firewall, and I had the Windows firewall on. It is still not working.

Hi, Based on current situation, I suggest you leave HomeGroup on each machine first. After that, please restart the three machines in Safe Mode with Networking and then create or join HomeGroup in this mode to check the result. Does the error message persist? If so, please move on the next steps. 1. Leave HomeGroup completely 2. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 3. In the popup window, type the following commands and press Enter one by one: Net stop p2pimsvc 4. Access t he following folder and clear all files inside: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking 5. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. Net start p2pimsvc Then, please create HomeGroup and join it on another machine again. Thanks, NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I can only suggest trying Homegroup Troubleshooter. It has some clever tools that may help. Open the HomeGroup troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. In the left pane, click View all, and then click HomeGroup.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
